Case #04: Samsung Note, aka the Pocket PC for Gamers?

Samsung puts a “PC in your pocket with power to do things unlike any PC” – with brag specs including: 3.1GHz Octa-Core; 1.5 terabytes; and a 3 millionX contrast-ratio, 120MHz AMOLED.

INSIGHTS+OUTLOOK:
Clearly Samsung’s engineers and finance folks take fun very seriously given its economic significance in market size and Y-O-Y growth. In COVID19 isolation, we sought streamed entertainment, and social interaction in online games.

CHALLENGE:
With the digital generation’s rise, can we tap into this sensibility for fun and interactivity? For nurturing creativity at work, how do we integrate a sense of fun, or at least the freedom to play with existing frames? Will we see curricula include gaming-based courses – such as to hone reflexive-quick analytical and decision-making skills in dynamic, complex simulations; or to develop resilience and adaptiveness.

DIVERGENCES:
With the grim prospect of a continuing pandemic isolation, what elements of a streamed lifestyle have permanently shifted?
When will gaming and technical simulations merge; will these technologies help train workforces for a future Industry X.0?
What about the question of even more-diverging economic paths for less-developed folks?
